I Want to Grow
Spiritual growth is learning to know, trust and follow Jesus in every part of life.
Following Jesus is the beginning of a new life, not the end of a journey.
Christian growth is not about making God love you more. In Christ, you are already received by grace. Growth is learning to live from that grace—knowing Jesus more deeply, becoming more like him and participating in what he is doing in the world.
God ordinarily grows us through simple, repeated practices:
Listen to God through Scripture
The Bible helps us know God's character, understand his purposes and recognize his voice. Begin with a Gospel such as Mark or John. Read a manageable portion, ask what it shows you about God, and consider how you should respond.
Speak with God in prayer
Prayer is an honest relationship, not a performance. Bring God your worship, gratitude, needs, confession, questions and concern for others.
Depend on the Holy Spirit
Christian life cannot be lived through determination alone. The Holy Spirit lives in God's people, helps us understand truth, changes our character and gives power to serve.
Join a church community
Jesus brings us into a family. We need other believers to teach, encourage, correct, pray with and serve alongside us.
Put faith into practice
Growth includes forgiving, serving, resisting sin, caring for people in need and speaking about Jesus with humility and love.
Do not be discouraged by slow progress. Healthy growth is often gradual. Keep returning to Jesus, especially after failure. His grace is not merely the doorway into Christian life; it sustains every step.
